Jackson County Association for Retarded Citizens is a not for profit organization designed to promote choice and to meet the individual needs of those with developmental disabilities. We offer opportunities for individuals to learn more about the community, explore work options, learn new skills and maintain current skills that will enable them to become more independent. JCARC presently serves more than 150 individuals from several locations within our community. Throughout Marianna we have programs designed to support individuals with developmental disabilities.

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT
Participants are provided assistance in obtaining employment in the community that is matched to their skills, abilities and interest. Supported Employment staff stays with the participant on the job and assists with training to assure job quality. The job coach gradually fades as the participant acquires their job skills and is ready to manage the job independently. Supported Employment staff continues working with the employer and the participant as needed on a follow along basis. Follow the link to Personnel Services to find out more.

COMMUNITY EXPLORATION
Designed for individuals to learn about their community by integrating them into natural community settings. They are given a sense of belonging and gain a better understanding of their community. This program provides community-based experiences to enhance their functional skills.

ADULT DAY TRAINING
ADT offers several program components to allow the participant the opportunity to learn and develop good work skills while earning money. The participant learns new skills and is a part of various activities. Most of these activities are in the community.

Mobile crews offer opportunities in community settings allowing participants an opportunity to interact in the community while benefiting from agency supervision and training.

GROUP HOMES

The seniors enjoy working on hobbies and crafts and attend community functions. It is our goal to provide the seniors with new experiences and add richness and quality to their lives.
